self portrait; first photoshop image

Instead of using my own face for a self portrait, I chose to use images of objects and symbols that represent me. The images that are higher up and bright blue are all things that I love. From left to right; the headphones represent my love for music, the sketchbook is my love of drawing, the bird is a love for animals (I own a pet cockatiel, which is why I used that image specifically), and the gameboy represents my love of video games. The red speech bubble in the lower right is a symbol for speaking, particularly public speaking, which is something I personally loathe doing. The gray image in the background is a train, and that represents my strong desire to travel (and I've always wanted to travel by train).

The portrait as a whole doesn't really have a specific subject or point of interest, and that was intentional. It symbolizes my own desire to not be the center of attention, because I'm very passive and shy.

first blog post

1. What is art?

Art is expression; sharing ideas and thoughts through any medium of one's preference.

2. Inspirations / Favorite Artists

When I was little, Disney movies controlled my life, which is what began my drawing streak. Inspiration nowadays comes from random artists I happen to stumble upon while surfing the web, who's styles and concept make me want to dump the computer and pick up my sketchbook. I can't recall any names, however. They all seem to come and go.

3. Why am I taking Intro to Digital Media?

Currently, I'm unsure of what exactly I want to major in. I feel trying out different types of art classes will help me understand what career I should go into.
