For my vector project, I chose two idioms and a quote that I randomly found one the internet. With the first idiom, I warped the word "albatross" visually to make it appear to look like a diving bird. I chose this idiom because I thought it would be fun to come up with a visual. I chose the second idiom because it's one a hear fairly often, and it seemed simple enough to make it interesting visually. The last quote was a silly one I randomly found, and was almost too easy making it visually funny, so I added in my own little doodles to help it out, such as footprints and a jolly sun.

vector exercise

This mess was conjured up by playing around in adobe illustrator. The assignment was just to create something abstract that showed we were experimenting around with different tools. I was personally fond of the brush tool, and I also liked messing around with the font outline, such as stretching out corners and curves of each letter to drastically alter it's appearance. Other tools that I played with include the symbol sprayer, the warp tool, and different color schemes.

raster project
For my raster project, I chose to take photos of the Old Main building. I've always had a liking for old fashion buildings, which was why I chose to make a photo collage out of this one. My first intention was to make something similar to this, but more symmetrical, with each photo evenly aligned. However, I decided to go with squashing a few photos together to give the building more shape and make it more interesting to look at, even though it's asymmetrical. The photos are mixed between some taken in the morning and some taken at night. The two different times contrast due to the morning shots giving the building a quaint, charming look, while the night shots almost make it look as if it's haunted.
